Calling all elves! EmiSunshine is stuffing her stockings, baking cookies and wrapping presents for a very worthy cause.

The East Tennessee-based singer/songwriter and her band, The Rain, will hold their 6th Annual Christmas Dinner and Concert on Saturday, December 21, in their hometown of Madisonville, Tennessee. Surprise musical guests are also expected to perform, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting families and individuals who need a helping hand but are not being served by other charitable organizations.

“There are a lot of families in our county who have an especially hard time around Christmas time,” Emi said. “If someone loses a job at the last minute, it might be too late for them to get services from other organizations. That’s just one example of the kind of people we’re trying to help out.”

Emi’s Christmas Dinner and Concert will be a combination pot-luck dinner and formal meal, prepared by tour manager and chef, John “Bones” Antus. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share, although it is not required. The event will also include a silent auction, featuring items donated by local businesses. People who bring an unwrapped toy to donate will be entered in a raffle, for a chance to win a special prize.

“It’s a very ambitious event,” Emi said. “The whole community comes together in the Christmas spirit.”

The celebration is open to the public, but tickets are required. In the past, some fans have even flown in from other parts of the country.

In addition to the Christmas Dinner and Concert, EmiSunshine will also lead her annual Market Square Christmas Busking Event in downtown Knoxville on December 23. Everyone is invited to participate.

“I’ve done this since I was 7 or 8,” Emi said. “We go out and sing for the homeless. We hand out blankets, sandwiches, and cookies. I have made friends with some of them. Sometimes it’s hard to know what people are going through. We are just trying to spread a bit of joy.”

Emi’s Annual Christmas Concert and Dinner will take place on Saturday, December 21, at the Cora Veal Senior Center, 144 College Street, Madisonville, TN 37354. Dinner will start at 6:00 p.m. The concert will start at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at

The Market Square Christmas Busking Event will take place on Monday, December 23, starting at 5:00 p.m. There is no cost to participate.
